THE INSTRUCTOR (1981)
Dir. Don Bendell
Cast: Bob Chaney, Don Bendell, Steve Boergadine
Runtime: 91 min

"Genuine in its intentions in the way the best outsider art is, there's a maniacal streak that defines this microbudget Akron, OH backyard brawl and transforms it into an out and out face melter." - Jacob Knight, Birth Movies Death

"A classic example of sheer willpower and enthusiasm trumping near-total ineptitude..." - Matt Lynch, Scarecrow Video

A balding ninja attacks some kids on the playground. The Instructor (Bob Chaney) goes for a jog after his wife is brutally murdered. A bunch of post-apocalyptic punks have a sword vs. axe fight in the middle of a trailer park.

All of that happens in the first five minutes of THE INSTRUCTOR.

The first (and only) film from director/writer/choreographer/cameraman Don Bendell, THE INSTRUCTOR is absolutely the best martial arts action epic to ever be filmed in Akron, Ohio. Who needs actors? Or experienced crew members? Or stunt people? All you need is a dream, an unending enthusiasm to create the purest of arts and a ferocious passion to make the best damn motion picture you can! Never question THE INSTRUCTOR.

Only ever released on VHS, don’t miss the chance to catch THE INSTRUCTOR as it was never meant to be seen... on the big screen!

The Laser Blast Film Society is made possible in part by the funding support from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario.
